My name is Caoilfhionn (Pronounced: kweelynn). I had looked for a hair stylist who understood my special needs for years before someone introduced me to Rhonda. I went to various salons and "hair restoration" clinics that showed by their treatment, that they were interested in my money, but not interested in me, and in fact could hardly wait to slap something on my head and get me out of their office. At salons, I was usually seated in a chair in the center of the salon while my hairpiece was removed in front of other customers who would often smirk and stare. I even had one "stylist" bring in her "apprentices" on my appointment day so they could observe her working on a "trannie." The results were always less than satisfying, usually entailing hours (often as many as 5! while the "stylist" took breaks or talked on the phone to friends) of my exposure to anyone who happened to be in the shop, passing by or simply came to gawk. I didn't know it but I was getting inferior product along with their insulting behavior. My hair was full of glue, thread (from sewing in the "weave") and snarls from their poor technique and kitchen sink processing products. I spent as much time "adjusting" my hairpiece and attempting to make their disasters look acceptable as I did in preparing for the day. Then, to add insult to injury, I had to continuously monitor my hair all day long due to my "stylists" incompetences. I thought that I had to endure this kind of humiliation and treatment because I had never experienced anything else. Then a friend told me about Studio 36 and Rhonda.
I had just moved to Phoenix and knew no one, but my friend assured me that she traveled hundreds of miles monthly just to have Rhonda do her hair. She said that if I went to Studio 36 I would be amazed at the difference in both my appearance and the treatment I received. She gave me one of Rhonda's cards. I was reticent. I didn't really know if I could trust her, so I tried another salon on the west side of town. After a brief interview with a gum-popping bimbo with too much make-up on, listening to her say that she just didn't 'woik wit' trannies' I left in tears. That night I called Studio 36.
Rhonda was friendly but professional on the phone and invited me for a consultation the next day. When I arrived she greeted me warmly and we settled down to chat. She consoled me about my experiences and pointed out that all those I had dealt with lacked professionalism. She showed me the products she would be using and explained carefully how they worked. I agreeded to a session almost immediately. The following Monday I had my first session with her and it was worth every penny!
My friend was right! Now my hair looks great! It feels totally natural and I receive constant compliments; even young men flirt with me! No one can tell that my hair isn't entirely my own and with Rhonda's help I have even been able to improve the quality and quantity of the hair I still have. I urge every LGBT person reading this article if you are tired of poor service and poor product call Studio 36. If you are unsure you can call me to talk about your hair and my experiences at Studio 36 at (480) 522-0081.
